Help - Legally questionable (reason for refusal)
In order to be on the safe side, if we aren't sure whether an image is permitted for commercial usage or not, we will refuse it. In most cases, it isn't worth risking a lawsuit by the rightsholder.
We don't accept images which seem to be X-rated either.
For any picture with a clear shot of a person, a standard release is mandatory, i.e. a written contract with the person's consent; for minors, the legal representative has to sign. In uncertain cases we may ask for a scan of this contract. If you already have such a contract, please start your file name with "mr_" (also for self-portraits, since we have no way to recognize whether the model is the photographer or not). This will indicate to our admins that the model legally authorized the picture.
The property release is similar to the model release. It is not about people but objects – art works, monuments, single buildings, excavations, ruins, palaces, castles, interiors, exhibitions, museums, etc. The property release is a contract with the holder of the rights indicating the permission for the usage of the picture by aboutpixel.de. When all this is clarified, please upload the image with "pr_" at the beginning of the file name.
In general, we reject pictures with recognizable brand names unless they are just minor accessories. They also need permission by a third party (see property release).
